Quick answer. International patients can book a check-up at the check-up centre or the international unit of a large hospital. Several hospitals publish their package prices. At the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, International Medical Centre packages are listed at ¥7,941 to ¥16,226 (September 2026) and standard packages at its Check-up Centre at ¥1,570 to ¥2,797 (July 2026).[1],[3]
Where check-ups are done
In Chinese hospitals a health check-up (体检) is run by a check-up or health management centre that is a department of the hospital. The directory below lists the hospitals we profile whose official department list includes one.

Compare hospitals in our directory
The table lists every hospital we profile whose official department directory includes a check-up or health management centre. The first number is how many such departments it lists; the full list, with its source, is on each hospital's profile.
Language and billing entries come from each hospital's international unit page or a government directory, as cited on its profile. "Not yet confirmed" means we have not found it on an official source — it does not mean the service is unavailable.

Prices are in Chinese yuan (RMB), as the hospital or the government published them, with the date of the list. They are list prices, not quotes. International and special-needs departments of public hospitals are market-priced: each hospital sets and publishes its own prices for them.
Packages differ in what they include, so the prices below are not like-for-like. Peking Union Medical College Hospital's platform notes that its endoscopy packages do not include the doctor's service fee, anaesthesia or pathology.

How to arrange a visit
Start with the hospital's international unit rather than general registration: it is the part of the hospital set up for international patients, and it can tell you which check-up packages it works with. You can also send ChinaMedMap a request and a person on our team will contact the hospital for you.
Foreign patients seen in international departments pay by commercial insurance or out of pocket; China's public medical insurance does not apply. Ask whether your insurer has a direct-billing arrangement with the hospital.
Send your records before you travel, so the hospital can tell you whether it can see you and what it expects the visit to involve. See Preparing Medical Records and International Patient Planning for visas and longer stays.
Questions to ask the international unit before you book
Ask
Why it matters
Can the international unit book the package, and on which days?
Some packages are sold by the check-up centre and others by the international unit, at different prices.
What does the package price include, and what is charged separately?
Hospitals list items that are billed on top of a package.
Is the report issued in English, and when will it be ready?
It decides how long you need to stay after the check-up.
How do I pay, and can you bill my insurer directly?
Direct billing depends on the insurer and the hospital's agreements.
Questions international patients ask
How much does a health check-up cost in China?
It depends on the hospital and the package. Published prices at three hospitals we profile run from about ¥1,570 for a basic package to about ¥31,800 for a VIP package with MRI. Ask the hospital which package it can book for you and what it includes.[3],[2],[4]
Is the published package price the final price?
Not always. The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital states that its listed prices are for reference and that the actual charge at the check-up centre applies.[1]
Will my insurance pay?
China's public medical insurance does not cover foreign patients in international departments. Some hospitals settle directly with commercial insurers, so check with your insurer and the hospital's international unit before you travel.[5]
This page covers how to access care and what we could confirm from official sources. It does not say whether a treatment is right for you — only a qualified clinician who has reviewed your case can do that. ChinaMedMap is not an emergency service.

Hospitals in our directory with a check-up centre
Each of these hospitals lists at least one such department in its official department directory (sources on each profile). A listed department shows what the hospital offers in general; ask its international unit whether it arranges this care for international patients.
